Last year, I participated in an amazing Jesus-adventure among the unreached peoples of Harar, Ethiopia. From September 2010 through May 2011, I was living alongside some incredible Ethiopian pastors and leaders, working with Mission SOS to preach the Gospel to those who have never heard it. I worked primarily with the children and pre-teen girls and with an amazing young woman who is now continuing the work of loving and discipling the youth of Harar.
The local church, Harar Church of Joy, is currently flourishing under the care of Pastors Ashagre Wolde-Tsadik and Mohammed Seid! They are raising up disciples and leaders in the city, evangelizing, praying for the sick, holding house church and Sunday meetings, teaching in a Bible School and just exploding with miracles and the love of Jesus! I will never ever forget the incredible months I spent with my Ethiopian and Swedish family [Samuel and Gabrielle Strandberg from Sweden are an incredible couple on fire for the nations and passionate about loving and preaching to the unreached; they first "showed me the ropes" of missionary life in Harar. They are true heroes in the Kingdom of God!].
It is often difficult to summarize the beauty, pain and deepest joy of my time spent overseas. I have long dreamed of when I would be able to leave my familiar American life to follow my Jesus to the peoples who have never heard of Him. Ethiopia was in many ways the culmination of that dream. Yet, it was also the beginning, because everything I learned and experienced has only increased my longing for other unreached areas and faces.
This page is a collection of past reflections, observations, photos, prayer points and miracles of my months of sunshine. If you’d like to read through those events, please enjoy!

” It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: ‘Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.’”
– Paul, Romans 15:20-21
